Hi, I'm Katie!
Hello! My name is Katie (she/her), and it is my honor to support birthing families in this transformative journey.
I believe each birth belongs to the birthing person and the baby being born. It is your journey to navigate, your story to tell. My role is to support you in your journey, to travel alongside you, to encourage, educate, and empower you. I trust your body's wisdom and your intuition as you make choices for your birth, and I hope to weave into this dialogue my training, experience, and knowledge, to best support your birthing time. I seek to be a grounded, nurturing source of support for you, your partner, and your family throughout your birthing experience and beyond. This work is sacred, and it is truly an honor.
I am a professionally trained doula through Community Aware Birthworkers. I have further training in Spinning Babies, Body Ready Method, and cranial sacral therapy for myofascial release in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I bring a grounded presence and offer trauma-informed care, and have further training in supporting pregnancy after loss. I serve the Minnesota Twin Cities and surrounding areas. I attend all births - any place, any circumstance. If you want doula support during your pregnancy, birthing time, and beyond, you deserve a doula!
I live on Wahpekute, Očeti Šakówiŋ, and Anishinabewaki land in the Twin Cities with my wonderful spouse and my four beautiful, exuberant, amazing children.
Doula Partnership
In January of 2023, my amazing friend and fellow doula Lisa Fletcher and I had the opportunity to partner together to support one of her clients. This wonderful experience led us to pursuing a true partnership together, which we began in May of that year.
Lisa and I first met through the Childbirth Collective and quickly bonded over our shared perspective on the power of birth and our passion for supporting and empowering families in this meaningful time. We started supporting each other as back up doula support for around two years before we decided to begin a true partnership model to serve families. This change has been a gift, to offer care from a collaborative place, and families have expressed such gratitude for the depth of care they receive, as well as for the variety of skills, trainings, and wisdom in this work. In our partnership, families get the chance to know us both during the prenatal time, as well as receive broader, communal-feeling support in the postpartum time. I continue to be so grateful for the ways in which this partnership has enriched the care I give as a doula, and my own experience in this work I love so much.
